Shea butter is a natural “4 in 1” product as it takes care of your hands, hair, body and face. How to use it? It’s fairly simple, pretty cheap and very efficient. Shea butter, we have it here, plus we’re giving 10 tips on its different uses.

What is shea butter?

The shea fruit comes from an African tree (let’s call it Butyrospremum Parkii, or just shea tree for short).
These fruits look like nuts in which you’ll find a greasy white pit. Once pressed, you obtain a yellow-ish paste, also known as shea butter. This tree produces on average 20 kilos of fruits.

6. Hair care
A very good solution to have healthy hair and especially for dry and dull hair as it helps to revitalize hair.
Apply a dollup of shea butter all over your hair (roots to ends) the day before shampoo time. This application should be made from the tips to the roots. Wrap your hair in a hot towel, leave it overnight so that the hair keratin can absorb the shea butter. After 15-20 minutes, wipe your hair to avoid staining your pillow. Shea will act all night to allow the keratin of your hair to absorb it.
The morning after, shampoo to remove the excess butter. We recommend using black soap as shampoo. If not, just use your usual shampoo.

7. For all seasons
Shea butter can be used all year round. During winter, it helps repair dry and dehydrated hair. During summer, as your hair can be sun damaged, it helps prevent your hair from being “bones-in-the-desert” dry and can helps occasionally sooth sunburns.

8. Skin care
Excellent skincare product, it promotes skin elasticity, protection and moisturisation.

9. Lip care
It can be used as chap-stick, especially during winter and even your nose. For example, apply it on the nose and nostrils to treat skin irritation caused by colds or spring allergies.

10. After shave
Shea butter is a great calming and soothing after shave for men with sensitive skin. Small warning, you might need to use a warm wet towel to remove the greasy effect that this butter may leave on the skin.
